We would like to announce the release of new firmware for the Blade® 230 S helicopter. We have found
that a small number of Blade 230 S owners have experienced an issue with the model drifting in the
stability modes, even after a trim flight had been performed. The trim flight also may not record
properly in certain conditions. We have isolated and addressed the issues in this new firmware release.
Upgrading your receiver will require the Programming Cable (SPMA3065). This can be purchased from
your local dealer. The firmware can be downloaded from spektrumrc.com after logging in and
registering your receiver. For complete instructions on how to perform the firmware upgrade, visit: http://spektrumrc.cachefly.net/apps/updater_instructions.html
It's Simple
If you have experienced issues with either the trim flight not recording properly, or the model
continuing to drift, follow these instructions: http://www.horizonhobby.com/pdf/ ... on_Procedure-EN.pdf to calibrate your model.
After performing the calibration procedure, perform a trim flight to ensure optimum performance.
Blade Pro Tip
The swashplate drift after power up is perfectly normal and essential based on how the stabilization system operates. If you feel that it is necessary, make small corrections during take-off. When taking off from high grass, these corrections may be required due to the low stance of the model and the minimal distance between the grass and main rotor blades. In comparison to past legacy flybarless systems, the 230 S stabilization system is very forgiving and controllable during takeoff.
This Firmware update includes:
Calibration process
a) If an error occurs during a trim flight, the LED will flash rapidly after completion of the trim flight. Power down and perform the trim flight procedure again. If the issue persists, perform the user calibration routine.
b) The AS3X® auto trim memorization has been disabled. This may have resulted in a few cases of the yaw shifting from center in flight if the yaw stick was held off center and perfectly still. The control positions are memorized during initialization and the transmitter trims should not be used as they will cause the Agility mode drift.
